Features

The editor and headless runtime share one workbook model. Here’s what the current preview can do.

Editing
Cell and range selection, keyboard editing, copy and paste, number formatting and worksheet tabs. Undo and redo follow the workbook’s transaction history.
Calculation
A custom parser evaluates arithmetic, comparisons, A1 references and common functions. The same engine can calculate workbooks without an editor.
Rendering
A Canvas 2D worksheet draws the visible cells. Native inputs handle cell editing, with a semantic grid alongside the canvas.
Workbooks
Save and reopen Rowpen JSON or export a selected range as CSV. The playground saves locally in your browser; your application can own persistence when Rowpen is embedded.

In development

Rowpen is under active development. The playground demonstrates the current build.

Charts, XLSX import and export, and real-time collaboration are planned. Excel compatibility remains under development.
